What do you do when there’s a multi-national tournament on the go, stirring up excitement around the globe? You get involved; tap into that positive, competitive spirit, of course! That’s exactly what Rootz has been getting up to during the thrilling 2024 UEFA European Football Championship (or The Euros, for short).
Teamwork - putting winning attitudes into action
Rootz sports guru Mark Simmonds conceived of a fantastic in-house competition that has been running in parallel with the Euros. Rootz truly is a multinational company, with team members from all over the world, and Mark sensed that there was an air of excitement about the tournament. He put together an internal campaign that inspired soccer fanatics and even non-fanatics to participate in guessing the outcomes of all the matches, right up to the thrilling final.
Several people at Rootz were hoping that the cup would go to the English team, but unfortunately for them, it wasn’t Coming Home (this time)!
Rootz supported Mark’s vision, creating a prize pool and letting him create a vibrant Slack channel, where the competition was almost as fierce as the tournament itself.
The past few weeks have created an atmosphere of fun and entertainment that echoes Rootz’s professional goals: encouraging players to enjoy their leisure time. Employees got together to watch matches both in the office and after hours, brought in treats representing their nationalities and celebrated the multicultural environment shared in office space on a day-to-day basis.
The sporting heart of Rootz
Enthusiasm for sport is part of the Rootz company culture, and has been from the start, with founder Lasse Rantala’s engagement with professional basketball and Commercial Director Toni “Kole” Kolehmainen’s stint as a professional footballer prior to joining the company. Besides these eminent sportspeople, Rootz has sports fans and enthusiasts throughout every team, which is why the company’s wellness programmes, activities and support resonate with employees.
Rootz has recently sponsored league football, too, getting behind 1. FC Union Berlin, for example. In many games over the past year, Wildz branding has been present on soccer stadium advertising boards.
Well done to Spain (and everyone who has supported that team) for securing the notable achievement of most Euro Cup wins with this incredible victory. We’re looking forward to enjoying even more sports tournaments at Rootz, to boost company culture and a sense of camaraderie.
